How the links work.

Some links on this site — mainly on the gear page — are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, this site may earn a small commission. It costs you nothing extra.

That’s the only way the site makes money, and it’s deliberately kept in the background: no ads, no popups, no sponsored posts. Affiliate links are marked, open in a new tab, and use rel="sponsored nofollow" so search engines treat them correctly.

Recommendations come first and are never changed by whether something pays a commission. If a free or second-hand option is the better call, that’s what you’ll read here. As required by the FTC’s endorsement guidelines, this page exists so the arrangement is clear up front.
